Reasons Why I Coach

I coach to give an opportunity to Imperial Valley athletes to have the tools to increase their velocity and build a strong foundation on developing the mental side of the game so they can be prepared to have success at the collegiate level and hopefully get to live out their dreams of playing professionally

Derek Lopez


1. Been playing baseball since the age of three years old.

2. Participated in tournaments all around Mexico. Played for the Mexico National Team in Latin America Tournament at the age of 11 in Panama City, Panama, and also Yucatan, Mexico.

3. Last National Team was for Team Mexico in the 2015 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

4. Played for NCAA D1 program at UC Riverside.

I coach in order to help the younger generation of baseball athletes from the Imperial Valley grow to their full potential by sharing the knowledge I have gained throughout my time around the game.

Rafael Lopez


1. Played for NJCAA Victor Valley College for 2 years.

2. Current Assistant Varsity coach for Holtville High School baseball program.

Pitching, Throwing, Strength & Conditioning, Fielding

I coach to allow kids to enjoy themselves on the field and become better athletes overall on and off the field

5. Former NCAA D2 student-athlete for Holy Names University Baseball Program (Oakland, CA)

6. Represented Team Mexico in 2007 Little League World Series

Developing athletes in all skill areas and mental game/approach

Reason Why I Coach:

I coach to provide the best resources and opportunity to all athletes. We live in a Valley where baseball is a dominant sport and it's time to see our Imperial Valley be known as a dominant area of future baseball prospects. We want to see each athlete win and EVERYONE DESERVES AN OPPORTUNITY.

I coach to help Imperial Valley athletes develop both the physical and mental part of the game of baseball/softball. Furthermore, I coach to prepare athletes for the collegiate level and/or teach them lifelong skills that hopefully one day they will use in the future.
